About

Politics, power and facts — no noise.

What Cursiv is

Cursiv is a Brazilian political newsroom. We cover power where it shows up: the presidency, Congress, the courts, city halls, and what the state does with money and with the rules.

The line is Politics · Power · Facts. Every piece is written, edited and checked to separate what happened, what is still moving through government, and what is our editorial reading. No clickbait. No press release dressed up as analysis.

Editorial

Three principles guide the desk:

  • Independence. We are not an arm of a party, government, company or fund. The commitment is to the reader.
  • Facts first. Numbers, process and sources come before opinion. When Cursiv interprets, we say so.
  • Proportion. One piece the reader can verify beats ten summaries that repeat the wire.

Coverage

We publish in Portuguese, focused on Brazil.

  • Politics — the presidency, campaigns, policy and the cost to citizens
  • Congress and bills — what is moving, what changes, what is still missing
  • Courts — rulings, cases and the limits of power
  • Cities — local government, budgets and public service
  • Fact check and explainers — verification and context
